Angel Friends

Yesterday in Relief Society we had a wonderful lesson about Elder Holland's conference talk "The Ministry of Angels" Here is a quote from that talk...

My beloved brothers and sisters, I testify of angels, both the heavenly and the mortal kind. In doing so I am testifying that God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face. “[N]or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man [or woman or child] upon the face thereof to be saved.” On occasions, global or personal, we may feel we are distanced from God, shut out from heaven, lost, alone in dark and dreary places. Often enough that distress can be of our own making, but even then the Father of us all is watching and assisting. And always there are those angels who come and go all around us, seen and unseen, known and unknown, mortal and immortal.

So I just want to say thank you to all of my personal angels... Anyone who makes a phone call, leaves a note, stops to say hi, sends an email, or leaves a comment - you have no idea how many of those brighten my day. Thank you.

Sunny Winter Utah Day...

We may not like the inconvenience of the snow, but there is nothing like Utah when the sun is shining and we have a beautiful blue sky right after it snows!

Today I was feeling a little stir crazy so I loaded everyone in the van and told them we were going exploring. They kept asking where we were going but I told them I didn't know.
They dressed warmly because I told them we would probably be getting out somewhere. We first headed to Daybreak to check out the progress on the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. I guess the sun had fooled me because it was really cold!! But it was beautiful and the kids endured it long enough for me to take some pictures. Then I decided to head the opposite direction and go and check out the Great Salt Lake. Sometimes I forget how close we are to it. When we found a place to get out, Kayleen was the only one that wanted to, so the boys stayed in the van while we looked around and took some more pictures. To me the magic of snow is that it makes everything look beautiful.

Breaking the Wishbone

We still had our wishbone from our last turkey and I decided today that I was kind of tired of it sitting in my kitchen window and therefore time to break it. We decided that it was Jarom and Spencer's turn. Spencer sometimes has a hard time making decisions so we told him to just hurry up and wish something. As the wish bone broke he exclaimed in a very excited voice, "I got what I wished for... I wished that I would win!!"

Neighbor Gifts - blogger style

The tradition of neighbor gifts has long been debated. I always seems to worry and stress about what to do and try to get it done early so that I can "cross it off my list." This year, although I had them prepared early, we did not deliver them until this week. We had a great time driving through the neighborhood dropping things by and even caroling to a few (what a treat for them - ha!) For me personally, the tradition of neighbor gifts is sometimes the one chance I tkae during the year to just say hey! We are grateful that you are part of our lives! I love answering the door and seeing the smiling faces, taking a few minutes to chat and knowing that I have such wonderful friends and neighbors. The people on the list seem to change each year, but I love the chance to reach out and take a moment in what so often is a crazy season and remember the friends that make living here wonderful. I know that I have been touched by the many friendships that I have made and sometimes am surpirsed at the number of people that count me as a friend too - (I know, I often have self esteem issues...) So to my many friends that live in my computer (see cartoon at the end of linked post) Merry Christmas and please consider yourself visited and gifted -

Wordle

Today was the Christmas program at school today. Because of that I had a a little extra time on my hands as my regular groups didn't come so I decided to experiment with Wordle.net
I'm sure that I can find a way to incorporate it into my therapy groups...

Finding matches

This is what my living room floor looked like this morning while we tried to fine three pairs of gloves or mittens that actually matched - so many mittens - so few matches. Where do they all go!!! Of course since it was 19 degrees when we left the house, we decided it was important enough to make the mess. BTW, the mess is still there - just waiting for me to come home!!
